Learning….

Hello,my dear friends!

Today it was my blanket stitch first time 🙂 🙂 🙂 Well,I think that there’s no easier stitch than this one but I needed to follow a tutorial to understand how to do it…. 😛 …. and I knitted the second cup cozy for my friend on which I sewed my soft felt appliqués….

We have some troubles with our plumbing so I had the plumber at mine yesterday the whole day and this morning…. well,this morning,while he was working,I was having fun making the above cozy….. the colours are very manly (well, the heart shape appliqué is not so manly …. oh, it doesn’t matter so much….) and, if I understood it right, one cozy is for my friend and the other for her companion…. well,I hope that my interpretation will work (she made me choose colours and shapes….)…..

Long and dark evenings….

Hi again,my dear friends!

On Sunday in the early morning the clock change occured so now,unfortunately,we have to deal with a lot of sunless hours… and which is the best way to face this unhappy condition….. ? Playing with yarn,of course!!!!

…. so…… some time ago I’ve found a nice afghan pattern on Raverly…. This is going to be my personal afghan so,since it was and still is a restful day today, I crocheted the two first squares, just to understand its dimentions and to test the yarn quality…. well, here follows the result….

….well,I’ll be in a full crochet immersion only after finishing all my Christmas to do list,but I can already tell that this is going to be a nice romantic project…. I really do like the hard contrast between the dark grey and the pink and think that my solitary evenings will be more pleasant while crocheting my new afghan! 🙂 The one I made a year ago and wich was usually the background of my photos is with my Big man now …. 🙂 ❤

….I’ve started to knit the first of the two cup cozies for a friend of mine….

…. and I made a purchase…. today I bought the above acrylic yarn for my afghan from Katia (and ordered her the rest, something about 60 balls….. my Big man will kill me….. for sure….)  and I saw this on her stand…..

….just three balls of Red Heart’s acrylic yarn, a job lot… I do not know what I will knit with that but I’m sure that, at the right moment, an idea will come up to my mind….. I’ve already at mine a remanant of a sock yarn ball with the same shades and the socks I’ve knitted myself turned out rather good so…..

….I’ve made my evening more colourful despite the dark outside and the sore throat! Ecco!!!!

PS:almost forgotten,I’ve ordered the second and the third book of the Millenium trilogy…. in few days they will be at mine…..

The BB weaveing in ends

Hello,my dear friends!

After the yesterday’s tour the force to finish the blanket,I took my time today and wove in ends with less rush but with the desire to show you my work as soon as possible… 🙂 … so…. here we are…. ❤

The BB turned out quite nice 😀 .It measures 85×110 cm,approx. 33×43 inces, and I really do hope that my Big man’s friends would like it….if needed,it could be used later,when the child grows up since th BB is big enough…. 😀 Well, I tried to make something that could last for a while….

After such a nice job I had a need to reward myself with something so…. 😀 This is a valid excuse for a small shopping session,don’t you think….? 😉

….all usefull things,aren’t they? 😀

The last thing today,but not least at all, actually very important and of great relief to me…. I read a very nice post on BMary’s blog a few days ago and I’m still in with it,musing about the pleasant feelings she raised in me with…First of all,let me say that this girl is amazing!I love her blog,the way she tells her life and her work!She made a great job with her wedding dress and I loved her reasoning about the handmade stuff….her post is the right answer to my doubts about crafting raised by some people who do not appreciate my work…So,if you have any strange thought about crafting,check out BMary’s blog to find the right inspiration for keeping on with anything you’re in!

Now,after an intense knitting week….CROCHET!!!! I need to crochet right now….so…..

The BB is knitted

Yeah,you understood it right,I finished the blanket five minutes ago….

My fingers are burning and my shoulders are hurting so badly….but it is done….in about 8 days of hard and fast work….more photos in the next days….

Strawberries and knitting

Hi,my friends!

Just a quick post to say hello and to share with you the progress of the baby blanket number two knitting….

I reached the length of 53 cm this morning before lunch….

….and here is the border detail with the owl cable….

…there are still 47 cm to be knitted so I do better to go back to work….but first I need some fuel…

….strawberries and honey from Istria given to my Big man and me by my sis in law…..delicious and healthy….perfect for me who loves so much to eat sweets but have to take care about the weight….

Honey,would you be so kind to……

Hello,my dear friends!

Sorry to be away for a while but I’m dealing with some long projects which require patience and time….two in particular….one of which was asked me by my Big man…. ho ho ho ho …. in this completely girly world of yarn,thread and fabric a man’s request to satisfy…. nice…. :)……so one evening he came home from work and said…..

BM:A couple of friends of mine just had a baby boy….

Me (very absent-mindedly):Oh,how sweet…..

BM(questioning look):Yeah….

Me:You should make a gift….

BM:Isn’t it up to you to take care about this stuff…..?

Me(a bit puzzled):So….you want me to craft something…….

BM:Well,I think yes…..YES,I DO!

So after this very clear conversation I sat down at my computer and consulted Raverly for some quick solutions…..I found an owl hat,a second owl hat,a cable hat + baby sack…..

BM(very meticulously):I don’t like this…..that seems so poor…..this is too strange and original…..

Me:So …. (sigh)….my dear,what would I knit for your friends then….

BM(with a suddenly appeared light bulb above his head):A BLANKET LIKE THAT ONE YOU KNITTED FOR YOUR NEPHEW COULD BE OK….

Me: (me at the very moment of….see picture below….)

A few words to say that I stole this writing style from Roma from Cottage On The Green who has such an original way of telling her life.The dialogue form was so perfect to express the uncertanity caused by my Big man’s idea…..

Well,it was very difficult to say no to my Man so I managed to calm myself down,put the panic away and I started the blanket….with some help,of course….

….I can assure you that the scent is even better…..

….and here we are….

For my sake,I haven’t use all the wool for my nephew’s blanket and there’s enough left to knit another one.I found a nice pattern on Raverly and I switched on the turbo mode….

I took the above photo this morning at 5 o’clock…I woke up early and couldn’t fall asleep again so I decided to knit…. 😛

He he fortunately I’m in good company …. ❤

I do hope that I’ll be able to knit this blanket quickly…. fingers crossed…

The second long project is already well known to you all…my Big man’s sweater….well….the back side is finished…. 😀 YIPPEE!!!!!

Wow…I like the way it turned out!The pattern is really beautiful!I love so much Rowan’s patterns!!!!The colour is my Big man’s choice…. ❤ ❤ ❤ He can really be proud of his sense of beauty…. Can’t wait to finish the blanket so I could start the front side!!!

Weave in ends….

Hello,my dear friends!

Easter is almost there and I had to finish off the baby blanket I knitted for my brother and his family….I owe you more photos of this tender work of mine and so…here we are …. enjoy the view…. ❤

So….honestly and with no fake modesty I tell you that I really do love this nice creation of mine …. 😀

I was in such a good mood to play with yarn today that I crocheted a flowering brooch….

As always the hardest part was sewing…but I managed to sew the brooch holder quite tidy…

The brooch is also a gift but……shhhhhhhh….don’t tell yet for whom I crafted it….

What do you think….would you like to receive these two goodies as a present…?

And should I knit another blanket,this time for a couple of friends who,in my opinion, does not appreciate properly my effort ….or should I just buy something …..please,tell me what would you do if you were in my shoes….?
